What the cron tool does with your input

Cron expressions and schedules you type are processed entirely in your browser. They aren't sent to our servers, logged or stored, and they're gone when you close or reload the page.

If analytics is allowed (see below), a few details of how the tool is used go to Google Analytics: the cron expression shown when you press Copy or pick a common schedule, whether your input was read as cron or as English, and, when an input can't be read, only its length and the kind of mistake — such as a range of day names. The text you type is never sent when it isn't a valid cron expression, and plain-English descriptions are never sent at all.

The site stores one preference on your device: whether you chose the light or dark theme, kept in your browser's local storage under the key bc-theme. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time in your browser's settings.

Information received when you visit

Like almost every website, the servers that deliver buildcron.com receive technical information with each request: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Our hosting provider uses these logs to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. We don't use them to identify you or to build profiles.

Fonts are served from our own domain, so loading a page doesn't send your IP address to a font provider.

Advertising and cookies

buildcron is free because it shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners act as third-party vendors that serve those ads, and:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to learn which pages and tool features are used, so we know what to improve. It records the pages you visit, how you arrived, your browser and device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address, plus the tool details described above. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_… to recognise return visits, which last up to two years.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics doesn't load at all unless you agree to it in the consent message described below. Elsewhere it loads by default; you can block it with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your consent choices

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform asks whether ads and analytics may use cookies and personal data. Google Analytics isn't loaded unless you agree. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time with the “Privacy choices” link in the footer of every page; withdrawing switches analytics off straight away. If you decline ads, you may still see them, but they won't be personalised.

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, such as California, the same link lets you opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to complain to a data protection authority. We hold very little personal data — normally only emails you send us — so the simplest route is to write to [contact email]. For data Google processes for advertising and analytics, use Google's tools linked above.

Children

buildcron is a tool for developers and isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and the UK). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy
